Navy check and grey twill fabric laid in folds

Fabric · Woven at Kolhapur

Shirting, by the metre.

Checks, stripes, structures and plains, woven on about 120 Toyota air-jet looms — around 1.2 million metres a month.

What we weave

Colour and pattern are in the yarn, not printed on.

Much of our shirting is yarn-dyed: the pattern is built from dyed warp and weft, so it goes all the way through the cloth. These are the families buyers ask us for most.

  • Blue and white check shirting in soft folds

    Checks

Yarn-dyed checks, from small ginghams to multi-colour.

  • Navy fabric with a white windowpane check

    Windowpanes

Open overchecks on plain and twill grounds.

  • Grey houndstooth fabric over a plain grey twill

    Structures

Houndstooth, small dobbies and textured weaves.

  • White cloth with a grey and black check

    Plaids

Larger checks for casual shirts and overshirts.

Rolled lengths of fabric in blues, greens and white

Fibres

Ask for the blend you need.

Tell us the fibre, the blend and the weight you need. We will tell you plainly whether it is a cloth we weave — and if it is, send you swatches.

The collection

55 shirtings, photographed.

Each with its composition, weight, width and weave — filter by any of them, or by colour. It is the photographed part of a register of 5,000+ designs, and it grows as we photograph more.
